Cultural Celebration

 
 
 


Each year Palmdale School District puts on a multicultural celebration where parents and staff members decorate a table displaying artifacts from their culture. It is also a huge pot luck--people bringing traditional food from their country. It is a pretty amazing day. These are just a few pictures of the tables that were decorated.

Weekly Address: Memorial Day

Good Morning

Just dropping by to right a few words this morning. I turned on the TV and the news was announcing that Obama had picked his Supreme Court nominee, Sonia Sotomayor. I'm not sure if I got the spelling right, but I think that's it. It is refreshing to me to see that Mr. Obama is living up to his promise of change. I'm sure there will be many things that come up that I don't agree with, but what I'm encouraged about is that there appears to be a climate of openess where dialogue and debate can take place. Word of caution: with one party in control of both Houses of Congress and the White House there can be a tendency to "go to far." It is good to have a moderating force, but we don't have that right now.

Emily

Emily passed her high school exit exam. Students start taking it as sophomores and have to pass it before they get their high school dimploma. It doesn't mean that she graduates early, but she doesn't have that hanging over her head for the next two years of high school. She passed with perfect scores in math and language and she scored 3.5 out of 4 on her writing. Way to Go Emily!!!! I am so proud of you!
